Unable to save files Empty Unable to save files

I use Chordsmith many years now and just yesterday decided to update it to the latest version. However now I can't save files. When I press save or save as nothing happens. And the title bar still has that '*' character, meaning that it's indeed not saved. Any ideas? Tried different texts, different paths, nothing...

I can't reproduce that problem (I'm using Windows). Maybe the download got corrupted. Please try downloading and reinstalling the program again using the installer or zip file download.

Does the old version of ChordSmith still work?
Also, have you made any recent changes in software or hardware?

I did uninstall & reinstall
I don't have the old version now

Is there any .log file where I could search for any error?
Also, is there a page where I can download old versions of ChordSmith?

There is no log file, but if you run the program from a command file, errors would show up there. Open a command window, CD to the installation folder, then type "java -jar ChordSmith_INTL.jar". See if any exceptions or error messages appear. Copy the errors and send them to me.

Hm...whatever I try to save I get a java.io.FileNotFoundException: [filepath] (Access is denied). Even when I try to save to my desktop folder

If I understand you right, you said earlier that the old version did work, but now doesn't. Is that right? If so, something external to the ChordSmith program must have happened in between. The "access is denied" message sounds like a file or folder permissions problem, although I don't know why that would be the case.

Have you tested it with different files? (I'm sure you have, but just making sure. Sometimes a file's contents can have a weird character that can cause problems.)

Do you have another computer you can try it on?
